3D Animation Sound

For one of my classes, we were instructed to create an animation using Maya a 3D modeling tool. We were told to create a model of anything and then add an animation where the music of our choice (royalty-free) would sync up to our model moving or in my case lightning. My idea was to create a spear that would get struck by lightning every time a new sound is heard from the music. Every lightning that is shown has a different color to correspond to the different sounds that are heard.
